Missing Cat - 28 Geary - Please Help.
Hi everyone, it's Amy, at Shearwater Croft, 28 Geary, and I need your help please.
Our cat, an adult male tabby with basil brush tail (as in the picture) has gone missing.
He answers to the name of Animal and has been missing for a week now.
Please can you check and double check your outbuildings and sheds to make sure that he isn't trapped inside, as it's very unusual for him not to come home.
If you have seen him or have any information, please call me on 07956 698519.

Waternish Community Survey - October 2026 - Action Required
Waternish Community Survey - October 2026
We need your input again!
Earlier this year we asked you to complete a survey about a potential new hall for Waternish. Before we can progress that project, it has been recommended to us that we conduct a broader community engagement survey about different aspects of life in Waternish and to record what you as residents feel are the priorities for the community.
We are delighted that the Skye and Lochalsh Council for Voluntary Organisations (SLCVO) has kindly offered to partner with us in this research. Similar activities are going on across Skye and Lochalsh and the survey is themed around the Skye & Raasay Future Plan. You can see the plan at this link www.slcvo.org.uk/sarf
The survey is designed for residents living within the Waternish Community Council area. We would like to hear from everyone and ask that every member of your household completes the survey. Individual responses really do matter.
The online survey is open now until 5pm on Friday 25th October at this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LYP9VCV
Responses will be collated by SLCVO who will compile an interim report that summarises the key
findings. We will share those findings online and via events in late November, and in 2027, Waternish Hall committee members will work with Waternish Community Council on responses to the key findings, with support from SLCVO.
The results from this survey will give the Waternish Community the evidence required to highlight community priorities, advocate for local resources, secure funding, and to lobby for critical improvements, so please ensure you have your full say.
Although the survey is online, we are here to help those who would prefer not to use a device, and paper copies are available. Also, members of the Hall Committee and others will be available at hall events to assist you, or even help you at home if requested.
If you have any questions or would like to request a paper copy - please contact either David Porter email: davidportermcfc@gmail.com, mobile: 07495 756193, or Jill Lopez email: jill16lopez16@gmail.com, mobile: 07596 546094

A New Bus Service from Portree to Inverness - Ember Buses
The new daily E21 Ember Bus route between Portree and Inverness launched as scheduled this week on Wednesday, October 7. The company's first zero-emission coaches successfully ran via Kyle of Lochalsh and Glen Shiel without any reported disruptions or technical hitches. For further details of this new service, see the company's website at https://www.ember.to/.
(N.B. If you don't see Portree listed as one of the 'Popular Stops' in the drop-down 'From' and 'To' menus, then just overtype in the menu field, and it should auto-complete after 2 or 3 letters).

Duirinish Media and Culture Club
Rose of Nevada (2025) 1hr54 UK
A vanished trawler returns in Mark Jenkin’s time-slipping film, an enigmatic drama steeped in loss, memory and the unsettling rhythms of coastal life. Those in peril on the sea are the subject of this arresting ghost story from Cornish film-maker Mark Jenkin. Set in a depressed fishing village, it explores the intimate presence of death and the disquieting claustrophobia of family and community – qualities often assumed to be eternal virtues. A local fisher, played by Edward Rowe, is astonished one morning to see a certain trawler bobbing innocuously in the harbour: the Rose of Nevada. This was a boat that was lost 30 years before in a heavy storm. The boat has returned from the dead. How on earth has this happened? The Guardian

Thank you from The Yurt Team
The Yurtea and Coffee wishes to thank all who attended their Macmillan Coffee Day in Waternish. Special thanks go to the team of bakers who contributed delicious cakes, to the local businesses who donated prizes for the raffle and to Skyeskyns for providing all the hot drinks.
The day was enjoyed by both the local community and some rather bemused visitors. With your support we were able to raise an amazing total of £1482.76! With over £1400 going directly to the Skye and Lochalsh Macmillan branch.
Thank you for your support
