Jess Owen on Radio Skye
jess_owen.jpg

Former Waternish resident and polar expedition guide Jess Owen will be visiting Skye in April. Radio Skye has nabbed her for a live interview on the Easter Sunday special with Harry Bell and Gill Adams. She will share tales of her recent work in both the Arctic and Antarctic regions, as well as some of her favourite music.

Join Jess, Harry and Gill from 11am to 2pm on the good ship Radio Skye, where, fuelled only by chocolate, they will navigate the tricky waters and expansive terrains of prog rock, trad, easy Easter Sunday listening, and general blether. No doubt there’ll be occasional plunges into the abyss of awful Easter puns but fear not, as Jess’ rescue skills are eggsellent.

National Theatre Live Cinema at LAS Portree
NT_at_LAS.jpg

Please support the National Theatre Live on Cinema at Las. It's a great initiative as it allows us to watch top class theatre performances on screen. We used to have this in Aros years ago and now it's back!

At LAS, for the price of £17.50 we get to sit in cushy comfortable seats watching the whole performance on a clean, sharp screen (with their new projector). It's a monthly event. Theatre seats would cost each of us anything from £50 - £100!

The Audience, with Helen Mirren, in March was brilliant. The next event is on 16th April at 7pm. Bookings via LAS.

We use it or we lose it. Let's go use it!

The New Waternish Hall Update
waternish_hall.jpg

As part of the SSE Skye Reinforcement Project, SSE has allocated approximately £5.4 million to a Skye Reinforcement Local Fund, in order to provide dedicated community benefit funding to successful applicants living along the route, including all community council areas within Skye & Raasay.

Any potential application will need to demonstrate support from the community. 114 people responded to our own recent survey to gauge interest in a project to establish a new, improved community hall. We are asking that those of you who are in support of such a project, whether you did or didn’t complete our survey, take the time to complete the SSEN survey as the next step towards a future application for a grant from the fund.

To complete the survey, click the following link:

Online Consultation Survey - Skye Reinforcement Local Fund.

We feel this is an opportunity not to be missed.

To find out more, visit the SSEN Transmission Community Benefit website or contact community.benefit@sse.com. The consultation is open until 11th April.

Please DO NOT share this link on social media – thank you.
