Waternish Hall Survey Results
historic_hall.jpg
Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to our recent survey about a potential new hall project in Waternish. We were delighted to see responses from all age groups of the community.

For full transparency we are publishing two documents, which can be viewed or downloaded below: one summarising the responses, and the second with the individual responses, but without the names and postcodes. These documents are also stored for future reference on the Document Archive page of the Hall Website - find them using the drop-down menu on that page.

As you will see there is a wide range of responses, with a large majority in favour of a new improved hall and parking facilities.

Meanwhile we thank everyone again for taking the time to respond, and will update you via the newsletter and Facebook as things progress.

Cancer Research UK Collection
cancer_research_UK.jpg
Dear Waternish Residents

Most of us have been affected by cancer in some shape or form and Cancer Research UK undertake pioneering work into how to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.

As in previous years, in the month of March, volunteers from Waternish will be doing door to door collections for the local branch of Cancer Research UK. We will have collecting tins and will be out and about during daylight hours when weather and time permits.

The collectors who will be knocking on your doors are Janice Martin, Duncan Martin, Pat Matheson, Lesley MacLean and Cathy Myhill. We would be delighted if anyone else would care to join us – it’s a great way to wander around Waternish and meet your neighbours !

In these days of electronic payment methods, many of us don’t have cash lying around so we are giving you a wee bit of notice in case you want to obtain cash for the collecting tins. Alternatively you can make a payment direct to the Skye branch account held in the RBS in Portree. Sort code 83-26-19, account number 00281554.

You can also donate online at https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/get-involved/donate and this method enables you to add Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer.

If you are not in when we call but would like to donate, you can drop your donation off at Lesley’s porch (Trumpan Cottage - last house on the right, top road at Trumpan). A box will be left there for donations.

Waternish Community Hall – Committee Members Wanted
meeting_cartoon.jpg

Are you new to the area and looking to meet people, or a long-time resident seeking a new activity? Waternish Community Hall is looking for new committee members to help support and revitalise our small, active team.

We welcome anyone with useful skills - or an interest in learning new ones - such as minute-taking, helping ensure the hall meets charity regulations, organising events and activities, or assisting with fundraising.

In return, you’ll work with a friendly team, use or develop valuable skills, and help maintain an important community resource that provides a venue for meetings, events, entertainment, and social activities.

Come along to our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 25th March at 7pm to meet the team and hear about plans for the coming year.

For an informal chat beforehand, contact:
