Waternish Hall Christmas Raffle 2024
animated_raffle_notice.gif

Tickets are now on sale for the Waternish Hall Christmas Raffle 2024!

How much are raffle tickets and where can I get them?

Raffle tickets are £1 each, and of course you may buy as many as you like - the more you buy, the more chance you have of winning a prize. You can purchase tickets online, if you use online banking, or in person if you'd sooner pay cash. If you wish to purchase online, to receive payment instructions just send an email with your name and contact number to: raffle@waternishhall.com , and put 'Raffle Tickets' in the subject field. If you wish to buy in person, you may do so from one of the following outlets:

  • Dunvegan Post Office;
  • Judi's house in Halistra on Waternish;
  • Frank's house in Stein on Waternish.

If buying in person on Waternish, please phone first using the contact details below, to make sure someone is in when you call. Dandelion Designs in Stein will also be selling tickets during the next Waternish Festive Shopping Weekend, on 14th and 15th December.

What can I win?

We already have more than 50 items to give away as prizes - thanks to the generosity of local businesses and individuals who have donated them - but more prizes are coming in on a daily basis. An up-to-date list of prizes is available to view on the Raffle page of the Hall website. Remember, last year we gave away more than 100 prizes to lucky winners. We're able to accept donations for raffle prizes right up until the day before the raffle, so if you'd like to make a donation, see the separate item in this newsletter.

When is the raffle draw?

The raffle draw will take place on
Saturday 21st December at 12 noon and once again the event will be live-streamed via our YouTube channel direct from Raffle HQ, aka Judi's kitchen. A video of the draw will then be posted on the same channel within 24 hours or so of the end of the draw. If you want to see who are this year's lucky winners then don't forget to tune in!

What's it all in aid of?

Primarily, it's a fun way to raise money for the Hall. As many of you know, as a small charity, the Hall faces a constant challenge to raise funds to finance its running costs. It's only through the generosity of local businesses and individuals who support our fund raising activities, such as the Christmas Raflle, that we are able to keep the Hall open. Last year's raffle was the most successful in the short history of the event, so let's hope that, with your support, this year's will be equally, if not more, successful.

Thank you for your support - and don't leave it until the last minute.
Buy your raffle tickets now!

We would like to thank everyone who attended the first meeting of the proposed environment/wildlife group last week in the hall. The interest in the proposed group was extremely heartening, and its clear that there is a lot of good work being undertaken already.

We do plan a follow up meeting in the coming weeks with proposals, suggestions and questions, open to discussion, as a plan for going forward.

If you left your email address at the meeting we will contact you directly to notify you and we'll also post on facebook etc. If you weren't at the meeting, and would like to be notified directly of the next meeting, please send your contact details to diveskye@dive-and-sea-the-hebrides.co.uk.

Thanks every one for your support and enthusiasm. Watch this space.

Waternish Wildlife Environmental Group
WILDLIFEGROUP.jpg
Proposed ENVIRONMENTAL / WILDLIFE GROUP
First public meeting

A meeting will be held on Thursday 14th Nov at 7.30pm in Waternish Hall to discuss the opportunities that exist around creating an umbrella environmental and/or wildlife group for Lochbay, or Waternish, which we all know is a very special place with a very special story!

Much work is already ongoing in Waternish, and has been for many years, undertaking monitoring and community science projects, and beach cleaning, just to mention some of it.

Many of us value what we have here, and it seems that an opportunity may exist to bring all of that work together in some way to tell a more well-rounded meaningful story. Perhaps to expand the scope of community science projects being carried out, to involve others who may wish to be involved, perhaps to seek collective funding, maybe to plan rewilding projects, who knows where it might go. We have thoughts and ideas, maybe others have too.

It seems a good start would be to meet and to see if interest exists in working together. To find out what else might happen, and if other people have plans and ambitions.

So PLEASE come along and have a chat. Share the story, bring your friends and neighbours.
